What we measure
Four angles, one spec sheet.
HawkEye Elite reads all four wheels simultaneously — geometry printed against the manufacturer target within tolerance band. Adjusted to spec, not "good enough".
The steering-axis tilt forward or backward from vertical.
Drives steering feel, high-speed stability, and return-to-centre after a corner. Off by a degree on a BMW 5 Series or a Mercedes E-Class and the car feels vague on the highway.
The inward or outward tilt of the wheel from vertical.
Negative camber is what loads the inside shoulder of a performance tyre. Out of spec and you scrub shoulder rubber unevenly inside a single season — especially on staggered fitments.
The direction the tyres point relative to the vehicle centreline.
Toe drift is the most common cause of inner-edge wear. A single degree of toe-in can halve the life of a staggered high-performance set.
The rear axle perpendicular relative to the vehicle centreline.
On RWD and AWD platforms — BMW 3/5/7, MB EQS, Audi A6/A7/A8, Porsche 911, Lexus LS — the rear axle defines the line the front axle tracks. A mis-set thrust angle shows up as a steady pull even when the front wheels are within spec.
Why road-force verification
Balance is not the same as road-force.
A traditional spin balance corrects static weight — it does not measure how a tyre and wheel behave under load at speed. Road-force verification is the harmonic test.
For staggered and low-profile fitments — Michelin Pilot Sport, Continental SportContact, Pirelli P Zero — match-mounting against road-force data is what guarantees the wheel returns smooth from a highway merge. Run as the final step of every alignment visit, not as an extra-cost option.

Performance vs. comfort spec
Two spec windows, one OEM database.
HawkEye Elite reads both spec windows from the same manufacturer database — comfort or performance, set to the angles the factory left.
RWD and AWD daily drivers. FR-platform cars, 350/430 staggered summer-interest fitments where straight highway tracking and even tyre wear are the design goal.

Four symptoms worth measuring.
A HawkEye Elite read against OEM spec is the right next step — regardless of whether the steering wheel feels centred.
- 01
Vehicle pulls to one side — or steering wheel sits off-centre.
Drift on a straight crowned road is normal — the road is crowned. A steady, persistent pull on a flat surface, or a steering wheel that sits noticeably off-centre on dead-straight asphalt, is suspension geometry or alignment drift, not road camber.

Uneven inner or outer edge tyre wear.
Toe mis-set on a staggered fitment scrubs shoulder rubber from the inside edge of the front tyres inside a single season. Caster mis-set produces feathering on the tread blocks.

Post-suspension work.
Control arm, spring, strut, subframe drop, or steering tie-rod replacement shifts geometry directly. Measurement after reassembly is non-optional — the part number change moves alignment drift out of spec by definition.

Curb impact or pothole event.
A hard knock can shift camber or toe where the rim and tyre look fine. Worth measuring before the next long highway trip, especially on staggered low-profile fitments where a one-degree shift shows up on the tread inside months, not miles.

Every alignment visit follows the same three-step sequence. Nothing skipped, nothing added.
- Step 01
Measure.
Hunter HawkEye Elite four-camera laser read. Caster, camber, toe, and thrust angle captured against each wheel's position; vehicle is up on the rack with cold tyre pressures confirmed and existing wear pattern documented in the service record.
- Step 02
Set.
Adjustment to OEM spec. Caster, camber, and toe brought within manufacturer tolerance using OEM-spec fasteners, shims, and adjustment range. The printout goes on file with the service record.
- Step 03
Road-force verify.
Match-mounting each tyre vs. wheel against the Hunter road-force balancer. Radial force variation measured, tyres rotated to their lowest-force point. Written report handed back with the keys.
